Program Requirements
  • 1. High School (12th Grade)
  • 2. English Language Proficiency Requirements (if applicable)
    English language proficiency is mandatory for international students. International students can prove their English language proficiency through one of the following methods:
    1. TOEFL (Online):  80 or above
    2. IELTS:  6.0 with no band score less than 5.5
    3. CELPIP: Level 7 or above
    4. PTE (Academic):  48 overall, minimum 40 in each skill band
    5. International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP):  3.7+
    6. Duolingo: 105 or above

This unique three terms (one year) post-secondary certificate offers industry-oriented approach to systems security and support. The program is blend of Information Security and IT Service Management that will provide students with the foundational information security skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in the IT security and service industry. Foundational topics will include information security, ethics, network management/analysis, programming and scripting, operating systems, and database management. Building on those foundational topics, the curriculum will also develop students’ skills in the areas of risk analysis, cryptography, vulnerability testing, access control implementation, and security audit performance. Graduates of this program will be able to proactively implement sound security practices to mitigate security risks and respond quickly to security breaches and issues that may have occurred. Through hands-on lab activities and case study analyses will enhance students’ information security understanding and develop their interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Industry certification ITIL foundation included in this program will enhance the graduate’s employability opportunities significantly.

This program will provide graduates with the knowledge and skills required to perform the following functions associated with these roles:

  • Install, configure and troubleshoot system and network enhancements to promote security in an organization.
  • Communicate security protocols, policies, and audit results and related documentation to any level of the organization.
  • Implement and evaluate security solutions for business processes, applications and communications to protect business resources and respond to the needs of all the internal stakeholders.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments for infrastructures, web and applications.
  • Evaluate and apply tools and techniques to formulate countermeasures to secure information systems against security threats.
  • Monitor and analyze logs and alerts from security devices to determine the extent of a security breach and what data has been compromised.
